- The Mekong Region comprises Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. The region's population has been growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 0.8% between 2008 - 2023. In 2023, the region had a total population of about 249.3 million.
- Cambodia's population has been one of the fastest growing regions overall, achieving a CAGR of 1.6% between 2008-2023. It recorded a population of 17.0 million in 2023.

- The income levels of residents in the Mekong Region have improved tremendously with a 15-year (2008-2023) CAGR of 5.0% to USD4,293 GDP per capita in 2023 from as low as USD2,074 GDP per capita in 2008.
- Cambodia especially has demonstrated rising income levels during this period, tripling its GDP per capita from USD903 in 2008 to USD2,460 in 2023. This represents a 15-year (2008-2023) CAGR of 6.9%.
- According to the IMF, income levels of residents in the Mekong Region will continue to increase to USD5,818 GDP per capita by 2028 with a 5-year (2023-2028) CAGR of 6.3%, with Cambodian income levels set to increase to USD3,417 GDP per capita by 2028 with a 5-year (2023-2028) CAGR of 6.8%.
- The steady rise in income will benefit NagaWorld by boosting travel and increasing visitor’s numbers to Cambodia and to NagaWorld.

- GDP growth of the five countries in the Mekong Region has been strong over the past decade. Despite the uncertainty in the global economic environment, the IMF has projected GDP growth in Cambodia to resume in 2024 and 2025 at 6.0% and 6.1% respectively.
- Cambodia has registered a GDP growth of 6.1% on average over the past 15 years (2008-2023), and the IMF projects that the country will resume its growth momentum in 2023 at an average annual growth rate of 5.8% between 2023 and 2028.

- The inflation rate in the Mekong Region has been quite volatile over the past decade. The IMF expects inflation pressures in most of the region remain relatively stable for all five countries within the Mekong Region.
- Cambodia has registered a manageable average inflation rate of 4.3% over the past 15 years (2008-2023), and the IMF expects its inflation rate remains at an average rate of 2.7% from 2023 to 2028.

- The Mekong Region has been able to attract a sizeable amount of FDI into the region totalled USD31.0 billion in 2023. Cambodia is ranked third after Vietnam and Thailand.
- FDIs into Cambodia increased by 211% from USD1.3 billion in 2013 to USD4.0 billion in 2023, representing a CAGR of 12.0%.
- The Cambodian Government has been proactive in attracting FDIs and the increase in FDIs will create more job opportunities and increase the overall income level of the country. In 2023, China accounted for 56.0% of total FDI in Cambodia, followed by Korea (10.2%), Canada (9.5%), Japan (7.6%), Singapore (6.6%), Malaysia (2.5%), U.K. (1.6%), U.S. (1.3%), Vietnam (0.9%) and Others (3.9%) (Source: Financial Stability Review 2023, National Bank of Cambodia).
