Key highlights of the tourism statistics report for October 2024:

• Total international tourist arrivals increased by 22.0% YoY to 5,374,738 visitors and arrivals from ASEAN increased by 18.4% YoY to 3,433,335 visitors in the first ten months of 2024, representing recovery rates of 101.5% and 203.8% respectively compared to the same period in 2019. For the month of October 2024, total international tourist arrivals and arrivals from ASEAN were 574,206 and 365,952 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 12.7% and 5.0% respectively compared to the month of September 2024
• Of the top 10 markets, Thailand was the highest at 32.1%, followed by Vietnam (20.2%), China (12.9%), Lao PDR (5.3%), U.S.A (3.1%), Korea (2.9%), Indonesia (2.6%), France (1.9%), U.K (1.7%) and Japan (1.7%)
• These top 10 markets accounted for 84.3% of total tourist arrivals, an increase of 22.9% YoY to 4,529,346 visitors in the first ten months of 2024
• Arrivals via air and land / waterways increased by 27.7% YoY to 1,909,287 visitors and 19.0% YoY to 3,465,451 visitors in the first ten months of 2024, representing recovery rates of 51.4% and 218.7% respectively compared to the same period in 2019. For the month of October 2024, arrivals via air and land / waterways were 206,519 visitors and 367,687 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 24.4% and 7.1% respectively compared to the month of September 2024
• Arrivals via Phnom Penh International Airport increased by 27.9% YoY to 1,424,475 visitors in the first ten months of 2024, representing a recovery rate of 82.5% compared to the same period in 2019. For the month of October 2024, arrivals via Phnom Penh International Airport was 159,555 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 19.4% compared to the month of September 2024
• Arrivals from China increased by 52.5% YoY to 691,736 visitors in the first ten months of 2024, representing a recovery rate of 34.1% compared to the same period in 2019. For the month of October 2024, arrivals from China was 84,194 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 22.5% compared to the month of September 2024
• International business-related travels into Cambodia increased by 36.9% YoY to 1,155,199 visitors in the first ten months of 2024, with the top 5 markets coming from China (41.9%), Vietnam (21.5%), Indonesia (8.7%), Thailand (5.3%) and Taiwan (3.4%), representing a recovery rate of 95.6% compared to the same period in 2019. For the month of October 2024, international business-related travels into Cambodia was 141,376 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 18.6% compared to the month of September 2024
• International business-related travels coming from China increased by 46.5% YoY to 483,649 visitors in the first ten months of 2024, representing a recovery rate of 51.7% compared to the same period in 2019. For the month of October 2024, international business-related travels coming from China was 59,870 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 24.0% compared to the month of September 2024

Key highlights of the tourism statistics report for December 2023:

• Total international tourist arrivals increased by 139.5% to 5,453,231 visitors and arrivals from ASEAN increased by 121.4% to 3,549,025 visitors in 2023. For the month of December 2023, total international tourist arrivals was 535,788 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 5.0%, while arrivals from ASEAN was 334,772 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 6.3% compared to the month of November 2023
• Of the top 10 markets, Thailand was the highest at 33.4%, followed by Vietnam (18.7%), China (10.0%), Lao PDR (6.8%), U.S.A (3.4%), Korea (3.1%), Indonesia (2.3%), France (2.0%), U.K (1.8%), and Malaysia (1.6%)
• These top 10 markets accounted for 83.1% of total tourist arrivals, an increase of 138.2% to 4,533,997 visitors in 2023
• Arrivals via air and land / waterways increased by 135.8% to 1,866,231 visitors and 141.5% to 3,587,000 visitors in 2023 respectively. For the month of December 2023, arrivals via air and land / waterways were 193,108 and 342,680 visitors representing a sequential increase of 8.7% and 3.0% respectively compared to the month of November 2023
• Arrivals via Phnom Penh International Airport increased by 124.0% to 1,365,735 visitors in 2023. For the month of December 2023, arrivals via Phnom Penh International Airport was 131,985 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 9.7% compared to the month of November 2023
• Arrivals from China increased by 412.6% to 547,798 visitors in 2023. For the month of December 2023, arrivals from China was 49,548 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 10.9% compared to the month of November 2023
• International business-related travels into Cambodia increased by 134.6% to 1,011,274 visitors in 2023, with the top 5 markets coming from China (39.0%), Vietnam (21.2%), Indonesia (8.8%), Thailand (7.2%) and Taiwan (3.4%)
• International business-related travels coming from China increased by 407.8% to 394,042 visitors in 2023. For the month of December 2023, international business-related travels coming from China was 32,691 visitors, representing a sequential increase of 4.9% compared to the month of November 2023
